Julia

So what do you guys think of Julia as the only well developed female character in the entire book? Is she a strong character? A "good" example of the female gender? Or is she a bit flaky and selfish perhaps? I couldn't help noticing that every time Winston tries to talk about something meaningful or "serious" like politics she goes to sleep...but then again, she IS opposing the party, in her own way...I don't know. What do you guys think?

I think Julia is a bad example of a female. She should decide if she wants to be with Winston or not. She makes females look like whores. (sorry for the language). But she does by sleeping with everyone in the party. I think Julia agrres with the party and some of the politics, thats why she goes to sleep on him. So far I don't like her.

I think Julia is somewhat of a "hoe"... I know thats kind of harsh but yeah... I dont really think shes a strong character maybe more of a sneaky type girl.. just because of the fact that her and winson are always sneaking around together not trying to get caught by the telescreens... I never really noticed that she falls asleep while winston is trying to talk seriously to her... but i dont know... im a little confused on why julia sleeps wity the party if she doesntr aree with them.. is it to get in good with them.....????

So far i believe that julia is the only strong female character in this story. julia is a strong character, and has this great impact on other characters such as winston. Julia is a bad example of a female gender she is also selfish and flaky, because she does not listen to winston and just thinks about herself before others. Everytime winston had something to say julia did not seem to care she always went to sleep or just plain ignored what winston had to say. i believe that julia is suspicious. i thik that julia is a promiscouis girl and just sell herself for no reason at the party and make up stories especially to winston. i believe that julia does not mind big brother in some ways and its weird because sometimes by her reactions towards winston she dont seem to care that she is being watched by big brother.

Personally I think it is good that she is the only well developed female character. I think she is a strong character, one of the most important people. I think she is a pretty good example of thefemale gender, as strong people. I think that it was very annoying when she would ignore him and just change the subject.

i do not think julia is a good example of a female because of what alot of people on here say she is putting her self out their like it does not matter. to me that is like disrespecting your self if you dont like when people disrespect you why would you do it your self your only giving people the reason to say stuff about you!!! and for winston to like her even more because she was with so many different people is even nastier he should not want to be with her because of her being that way.

Julia have both negative and positive aspects about her. The negative is that she doesn't carry herslf well as a female but at least she keeps it on the low and have a cover-up for it (Junior Anti-Sex League). The positive thing is that she has a strong opposition for the Party and she keeps that in her mind. She has confidence that changing the ways of the Party can be accomplished and that is the aspect that makes her good.
